Successful people…

1. Take Risks (5:38)

Don’t let the idea of risk be something that intimidates you. Instead, look at risk objectively and recognize the different levels of risk that can lead you to success.

Remember: taking risks is a habit you must build. Put your pre-determined notions aside and consider the process of building the habit.

2. Stick to their decisions (9:56)

We tend to worry about making the wrong decisions. But making mistakes is inevitable — don’t let them scare you away from success.

You don’t need to know exactly what’s going to happen on the other side of your decision. Just take action and try, then measure your results from there.

3. Set good boundaries (11:40)

Whether it’s your family communication, your social media, your job — you have to set boundaries that will allow you to focus when needed.

How much of your time are you spending on minor things? Major things?

4. Give back (13:07)

Volunteer your time, energy, or resources to causes that matter to you. It doesn’t always have to be a financial donation!

If you never get into the habit of giving back, it won’t be any easier for you when you do have money in the bank.

5. Work smart & Delegate (16:37)

Don’t become addicted to being busy. If you want to avoid burnout, create the habit of delegating the work that distracts you from success.

Delegating gives you that extra room to breathe and focus on the things that matter to you. Focus on the things you can control, and let go of the rest.

Think of the person who has achieved what you’re looking to achieve. What would they do in the situation you’re in? Would they be doing the tasks you’ve assigned yourself?

6. Constantly learn (21:24)

Whether you’re picking up a book, attending a conference, or joining the GATLUW Society, be on a mission to constantly learn and grow. There is always something new you can be teaching yourself!

7. Stay disciplined (22:01)

Discipline can be hard to pinpoint in yourself. But like everything else, it is a habit you must build over time. Focus on keeping yourself on track in order to build the habit of self-discipline.

8. Focus (22:47)

Be cautious of the things that can distract you. When you have something to focus on, take the necessary steps to stay in the zone, whether that means locking the office door or shutting off notifications on your phone.

9. Practice patience (23:45)

Patience is one of the reasons I read The Daily Stoic every single morning. It helps to remind me to default to patience and stoicism so I can keep my mindset in check.

Remember: it is not always your job to teach someone else. Allow them to live their own journey while you live yours. Return to stoicism any time you start to feel the urge to check someone on what they’re doing.

10. Surround themselves with ass kickers (25:19)

If you surround yourself with complainers, you will complain. If you surround yourself with people who tell you what’s possible, you’ll believe what’s possible. Find the energy you benefit from and surround yourself with it.

11. Talk about ideas, not other people (27:59)

Ideas are inspirational. They make you think about what’s possible for you and move you towards action, rather than gossip.

12. Get back up instead of give up (28:57)

No matter how many times you fall, you have to get back up and keep going in order to reach your goals. Successful people create a habit out of bouncing back and learning from failure so they can stay on track with their achievements.

Learn to leverage your failures so you can take the wisdom you gained from them and use it to move yourself forward.

13. Show up on time (29:38)

Showing up late to something shows how little you think of the other person’s time. Show up for yourself and others by taking your time seriously and respecting the schedules of those around you.

14. Know what’s going on around them (30:38)

In order to bring value to the people around you, you need to be in touch with what’s going on in your circle. What is your community talking about? What ideas are they focused on? What are they worried about?

Assess what’s going on around you and use that information to be relevant, helpful, and ultimately successful.

15. Know what’s going on with their money (31:43)

Don’t let yourself live in the dark about what’s going on with your finances. Successful people take the time to check on what they owe, how much they make, how much they need to make — every little detail that can move them towards financial success.

Make time to get in-the-know about your finances and set financial goals for yourself. Then, make it a habit to check in regularly on your progress.

16. Go to the spiritual gym (32:30)

Take care of yourself spiritually however you see fit, whether it’s spending time with your spiritual group or reading the work os spiritual leaders/inspirational authors.
