We say “Good morning, Good life” around here for a reason, and that reason is because how you spend your morning matters! How you spend those first few hours after getting out of bed really do make a difference in how the rest of your day goes.
Amy has a specific routine that she does each and every day to stay on track. We’re breaking it down here in hopes that it inspires you to take these action steps and create a morning routine that gets you up and excited for each day.
5 STEPS TO YOUR BEST MORNING
Pick a time and stick with it
For Amy, this looks like between 4:45 and 5:00 a.m. For you, this may look different. The important thing is that you pick a time and stick with it. If you don’t set a time, you will find yourself making excuses and not having any consistency.
Get refreshed and set your mind
After waking up, Amy likes to wash her face, grab some lemon water, meditate, and then grab some celery juice. Getting your mind ready to begin the day is so important. Find what calms and sets your mind in a positive state and go with that. Again, habits are everything, so try to find something that is sustainable.
Get your brain working
Goals, affirmations, and morning pages are a few of Amy’s favorite ways to get her mind going in the morning. By writing out your goals and affirmations, you remind yourself why you are doing what you are doing each day. This allows you to set your sights on the big picture throughout the day. Reading The Daily Stoic is also vital to Amy’s morning routine, as well as doing some writing.
Get moving and fuel up
Whether it’s an intense workout or a lighter one, it’s important to get your body moving! After a light workout, Amy likes to grab some protein balls and fuel up.
Do that one thing
You know the one… the hardest task that will take you the most effort. This task is the one you should do first. Before Amy’s team even gets online to start the workday, she does her “one thing” and gets it out of the way. This will have you starting the workday feeling accomplished.
