Check out what I’ve been reading this week!
Here’s what I’m reading this week:
On Kindle: Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams
ONE OF TIME’S 100 BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR
As I’ve been focusing a great deal of attention on the very important work of advancing the lives of the black community and standing up for their basic human rights, I started looking for different types of books to help me with that education. I’ve already committed this summer to be one of enjoying more fiction work, so I picked up the story of Queenie to dive into something that would give me a different point of view. Not only is she a black woman going through a tumultuous time in her life between love and work and her family, but she is continually surrounded with predominately white people and feeling the judgment of being misunderstood because of her race. I’m also a pretty big geek for the people of England, so I love reading through the British lingo throughout her dramatic conversations. This author is brilliantly sharing this story is such a modern way and that’s what gets me excited to open this book up multiple times per day on my Kindle Oasis. Only 60% of the way through this one. but highly recommended!

QOTD: What are you reading right now? Comment below!
I’m reading The Virgin Way by Richard Branson. I’ve heard, probably from Amy but others also,, to learn from those you admire to uplevel your life. I’ve always admired Richard Branson’s adventurous spirit, so I thought I’d start from the beginning with his first autobiography.
I’m also reading The 20th Victim by James Patterson and Maxine Paetro. I’m a mystery novelist and love mysteries, of course.
